SPICKARD, MO — Spickard residents are being reminded about a public meeting that will be taking place next week regarding the future of the post office. The meeting will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2012, at the post office located at 303 N. Second St. in Spickard, and will be held at noon. Representatives from the U.S. Postal Service will be available to answer questions and provide information concerning the POST Plan. A survey of residents was recently conducted, asking which of four options would be most agreeable to those served by the post office. Results of that survey will be shared at the meeting. The options include: keep the office open, conduct a discontinuance study and offer roadside mailbox delivery, conduct a discontinuance study and find an alternative location operated by a contractor, or conduct a discontinuance study for the office and provide P.O. Box delivery to that post office elsewhere.
