LINNEUS, MO — A white-tail deer management workshop for landowners and property managers will be held 5:30 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2012, at the University of Missouri Forage Systems Research Center, 21262 Genoa Road, Linneus, Mo. Topics covered will include food plots and green browse to attract deer, the benefits of timber stand improvements, and using warm-season grass plantings for bedding and browse. Dinner will be provided. Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) staff will demonstrate how to remove jawbones and incisors to determine the age of a deer. Diseases affecting deer will be discussed. Attendees are encouraged to bring their photos of deer to discuss estimating the age and antler scores for deer. The event and dinner are free.
