KANSAS CITY, MO — A Kansas man has pled guilty to an amended charge of voluntary manslaughter in the stabbing death of a Gower, MO, resident at a camping resort in Clinton County in June, 2011. Shannon William Todd, 20, of Shawnee Mission, KS, entered the plea to the Class B felony charge during an appearance in Clay County Court on Sept. 6, 2012. The case was moved on a change of venue from Clinton County to Clay County in February. Circuit Judge Larry Dale Harman has scheduled a sentencing hearing for Todd on Nov. 16. Todd was originally charged with second degree murder in the death of 23-year-old Justyn Price of Gower following an altercation on June 8, 2011, at the Down Under Camp Resort located near Turney, MO. The Clinton County Sheriff’s Department received a call at 1:39 a.m. on June 8, 2011, regarding an assault at the camping resort. Upon arrival deputies witnessed subjects from two different camp sites in verbal argument, and then a physical altercation occurred where Price received multiple stab wounds. He was transported to Cameron Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. Officers from the North Kansas City Police Department took Todd into custody during a vehicle stop later that morning. Todd is being held in the Clay County Detention Center on $500,000 bond.
