NODAWAY COUNTY, MO — The Public Water Supply District #1, commonly called Rural Water, was approached on Sept. 17, 2012, about supplying emergency water to three Nodaway County communities: Skidmore, Graham and Barnard. The town of Skidmore determined on Sept. 15 the water wells were not going to keep up with the demand, so on Sept. 15 and 16 they began hauling water from Burlington Jct. Three 3,000-gallon tankers made four trips to the town to keep the water tower filled. Skidmore residents have been notified to conserve water in this emergency situation. On a normal day, Skidmore  residents would require approximately 25,000 gallons. Graham, who has one well, and Barnard, with two wells, are nearing this emergency level with only 18 inches and 2-3 feet respectively left in their wells.
