MEADVILLE, MO — Christy Seifert is a finalist for a $10,000 prize in the Lowes/Waverly Home contest called “Paint for a Purpose.” The contest asks that each submission state what they would use the money for. She has received a phone call from corporate offices in New York affirming that she is a finalist.

Seifert saw the contest online and, being a school teacher, immediately thought of her school. If she wins, she plans to paint her kindergarten classroom and hallway entering the room: “We are a very small school, and I hate to ask for things to be painted when we need other things much worse. But, I can’t help but think how much fun it would be to see the incoming kindergarteners coming into a brightly painted classroom for the first time. Wow! That would be fun!”

You can vote. Visit Waverly Home on Facebook, and click on the Paint for a Purpose photo. From there, one of five choices may be selected — Seifert is one of the five.
