Dear Editor,
How much debt do we have to incur, and how many people have to be out of work, before we take action on a national level? Every day, on the news, you can find a cadre of economic leaders from Europe, frantically waving red flags and pleading with us….”Americans, please right your ship and don’t set sail with us….we are SINKING!” Let’s drop all the political talking points for the time being, and face facts. Medicare/Medicaid and Social Security are unsustainable as currently administered. Add to that a bit that appeared in the Washington Examiner the other day, which stated that potentially, BILLIONS of tax dollars are going to Cuba and other foreign countries via criminal schemes designed to defraud Medicare and Medicaid….”While the fraud itself is unacceptable, the loss of American dollars to foreign countries, because of flaws in our system, is totally unacceptable. The American people deserve the peace of mind to know that Federal officials are doing everything they can to safeguard taxpayers’ dollars and the Medicare program.”
These other countries are laughing at us, and so it is their right to. I’d laugh too, if I saw another country being run like ours, with only 8% of the people in charge of the administration having any economic background. What have we done here? I’ll answer my own question. We were so busy leading our lives, working, trying to pay our bills, and we ‘trusted’ a slick-talking, wonderful speechgiver, with an absolute ZERO record and not an ounce of business sense, to lead us into a new era of ‘hope and change’…..*sigh*. This President’s policies are so radical, that even some in his own party ‘cringe’ when another new one is instituted by ‘fiat’. We hear plenty of rhetoric from Mr. Obama these days, such as,…..”I need four more years….we’re just getting started.” And….”If you love me, you’ll urge your representatives to pass my bills.” Really? If we ‘love you’ Mr. President? Now he’s urging people getting married or having birthdays to forgo the gifts, and send the money to his campaign instead.
Let’s learn a lesson from the outcome in the Wisconsin recall election. Gov. Walker had the unions pay more into their own healthcare, among other things, thereby saving everyone’s job and winding up with money left over! Even knowledgeable union members voted for Mr. Walker. All it took was having the state governed by someone who knows how the economy works.
No matter who says what….some cuts are coming. Our country is fast becoming a nation of people who ‘work’ for a living, being outnumbered by those who ‘vote’ for a living, pay no taxes, and have no skin in the game. By electing someone with proven economic successes, we can begin to put people back to work, pay off our debt, grow our economy, and institute some real ‘hope and change’. It’s just proven to be nonsense to send a boy to do a man’s job.
Thank you,
