The Board of Trustees for the Village of Winston approved a budget/level pay agreement with Platte-Clay Propane during its regular meeting held Monday, June 4. The option of contracting for propane with Platte-Clay is still open for the village if the contract prices are more favorable when they are announced. Any money spent on budget/level pay would then be transferred to a contract.

Bills for payment were approved.

Saxton Pliley of Boy Scout Troop #167 received consent for the troop using town hall for a cool place for food items and storage for the Scouts hog roast on June 16.

Daviess County Sheriff Ben Becerra addressed the board and a discussion ensued about coordination with the sheriff’s office, ordinance enforcement, law enforcement for traffic and criminal matters, and law enforcement support in potentially dangerous situations.

No utility bill delinquencies were reported. The city has several new move-ins.

The sewer system is operating well. Between six and seven tons of rock is needed per pump station. The rock will be ordered and spread once it is delivered.

R&W Container trash collection contract was approved with amendments. A letter will be sent to residents letting them know of the changes.

An ordinance passed to change and clarify language regarding sewer utilities. An amendment passed to update rates and related matters under schedule of fees.

The utilities clerk asked for a pay increase to cover additional duties and expenses of the job. The board approved an increase to the salary of the utilities clerk to $250 per month.

The emergency siren was tested and is operating properly.

New locks were purchased for several items. The solar light on the Winston sign has been put back up.

Ordinance Enforcement Officer Christy Eden Browder reported on the status of property situations, indicating some resolved, some making good progress, and one moving to a court notice. An additional property was brought to her attention by the board for review and action.
