During the regular June 12, meeting at Cycles restaurant, the Gallatin Rotary Club recognized Zac Johnson as the club’s 2012 Paul Harris Fellow. The ceremony presented a Rotary certificate, medallion and special rotary pin to Johnson.
The Paul Harris Fellow Award, named after the founder of Rotary, has always held great significance in the Rotary organization and is Rotary’s most prestigious and outstanding recognition achievement. It represents a substantial contribution to the humanitarian and educational programs of Rotary International as supported by the Rotary Foundation.
Rotary programs provide a wide variety of help and assistance to people all over the world. Projects include improving the quality of life and promote peace through understanding. Safe drinking water for communities in third world countries, gathering shoes for orphans, providing a broad spectrum of medical services in many countries, aiding disabled to obtain artificial limbs, promoting youth leadership training, scholarship awards, students exchange and group exchange program with other countries, agricultural assistance, school supplies and educational materials and the list goes on.
One of the most noteworthy Rotary projects is the goal to eliminate polio from the world. Rotary has joined together with partner organizations to accomplish this important goal.
