Frank Wheeler, a Jameson native, who has served as the head boys basketball coach at Blue Springs High School, will take over as the activities director for Blue Springs H.S. next year. Wheeler has resigned his coaching position and will be a full time administrator for the district.

Wheeler was head coach at BSHS for 15 years where he led the Wildcats to multiple conference and district championships. His 2003-04 team advanced to the MSHSAA Class 5 Championship game for the first time in school history, where they finished second to Poplar Bluff. Wheeler was also named Class-5 Coach of the Year in 2004 by the Missouri Basketball Coaches Association.

Prior to his time at Blue Springs, Wheeler was head coach at Albany for five years, and head coach at Platte County for six years where his teams at both schools won conference championships.

Wheeler will direct 10 boys sports, nine girls sports, band, debate, forensics, music, and a variety of clubs and organizations, in his duties as activities director.

Wheeler is a 1980 graduate of Jameson High School where he was a standout basketball player and a two-time First Team All-State Basketball selection. He then lettered four years at Missouri Western State College on teams that twice competed in the Mens Basketball NAIA National Tournament. He graduated in 1985. Wheeler, wife Pam (Feurt), and sons Jordan and Brooks, all reside in Blue Springs.
