The Green Hills Community Action Agency Area Governing Board of Directors met this past Tuesday evening, May 8, 2012, in Trenton, MO. Minutes from the April 10, 2012 meeting were approved with revisions.

Chief Financial Officer, Janelle Tjarks, reviewed the April financials with the board and highlighted three (3) programs that currently need some attention due to being underspent. (Second Chance, Missouri Foundation for Health, and Workforce Investment Act grants). She indicated a plan to spend the majority of the Missouri Foundation for Health has been presented to the funder, while the other two grants are going to be more difficult to spend because of less staffing. Ms. Tjarks also brought some good news to the board informing them that the line of credit has been paid in full and the money owed to the Women’s Shelter would be paid in full by the end of May.

The Governance Committee met to review applications from prospective new board members. A recommendation to the full board was made to seat Tammie Brundage as the special interest representative in Mercer County. The board accepted the nomination and approved to add Ms. Brundage.

Further discussion was had regarding board development, which included a brief presentation by Eric Staley from Missionmapping, LLC in Columbia, MO. He addressed the board to report on his visit to GHCAA and discussions he had with the management/leadership team earlier in the afternoon on May 8

A sealed bid process had been open for the Putnam County Service Center building in Unionville, MO to conclude on May 8

Board Chair, Leon Hicks, gave a special "Thank You" to Terri Henderson, Energy Services Director, for stepping up and helping the Agency through a very tough time. Based on his comments, her added duties and service to the company have not gone unnoticed and a special committee was formed to provide a special token of appreciation for her commitment to GHCAA.

Other items for discussion were Agency name change/State branding, an upcoming election to take place for special interest seats, and a proposed update to the current employee leave policy.

He also indicated that he was gathering information to assess the state of the Agency, so that he could prepare a more complete proposal and submit to the Missouri Association for Community Action (MACA) for review, as they have been commissioned by the state to provide the resources needed to keep the Agency moving in a positive direction. th at 5:00 p.m. The board voted to accept the bid from Jeffrey Frazier of "Cellular Today" of $23,500. A contract will be negotiated by GHCAA with a closing to take effect in 30 days or less.
