Partnering Programs to Help Older Adults will be held Monday, May 14, at the Pattonsburg Multi-Purpose Center. The event is hosted by Vera Nelson, Aging Consultant with the Active Aging Resource Center (AARC) in Gallatin.
Programs include: Safety Awareness from 10 a.m. to12 noon with discussion about senior safety in the home and car and while traveling. Daviess County Sheriff Ben Becerra and Gallatin Chief of Police Mark Richards will be in attendance to give some additional safety advice.
If you missed the national drug "Take Back" campaign, Chief Richards will be available from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. to take your unused and expired medication for safe disposal.
Deb Ramey with Second Harvest will be present to give information on the new SNAP program or help fill-out the needed information for the new Food Stamp Program.
VFW representatives will be on hand to help with VA questions or concerns.
There will be free drawings and free items for those in attendance.
The event is to highlight Older Americans Month and to assist our elderly to find the information and assistance needed in our rural area. Vera Nelson serves the Pattonsburg Center on a monthly basis through the Area Agency on Aging. The Pattonsburg administrator is Kay Sweat.
There is no charge for the services given to those who attend the event on May 14.
Lunch is served daily from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Those 60 and over are asked for a suggested contribution of $3.
