Two men were arrested April 24 when a consent search of their vehicle revealed methamphetamine, ecstasy and marijuana.
Matthew Robine, 28, and Kasey A. Gomolla, 21, both of Wausau, Wis., were stopped by Trooper J. Cross on I-35 for excessive window tinting and speeding. Robine’s driving record showed that his license had been suspended in Florida. Robine told Trooper J. Cross that he was an active drug user and had just left court in Clinton County where he had a weapons charge, as well as charges of driving while revoked and possession of controlled substance. Robine also told the officer there was a loaded magazine in the passenger compartment of the vehicle.
In a consent search, officers found four ecstasy pills, one baggie containing methamphetamine, and a small bag of marijuana, as well as a 9mm magazine next to the driver’s seat. A pistol was located in the engine compartment. Robine had multiple felony convictions and an active warrant from Florida. The ATF indicated that they would be adopting the felon in possession of a firearm case.
Both were charged with two felony counts of possession of controlled substance, and one misdemeanor count of possession of marijuana. Robine was also charged with no valid license, and excessive window tint. Both are being held on $35,000 bond.
Mary Estes Simmons, 57, Pattonsburg was arrested April 25 for misdemeanor no valid license. She also had a Cole County warrant for ID theft and forgery, both class C felonies, and a probation and parole warrant from Moniteau County on an original charge of forgery. Bond was denied on the P&P warrant. Bond was set at $5,000 on the Cole County charges and $300 on the Daviess County charge.
Virgil Caldwell, 48, Gallatin, was charged April 29 with DWI, chronic offender, class B felony. He posted $50,000 bond.
Timothy C. King, 41, Weatherby, was charged April 25 with felony failure to register as sex offender. He posted $15,000 bond.
Amanda Grant, 31, Kearney, was charged April 25 with misdemeanor passing bad checks. She posted $500 bond.
County Commission
James Lewis, bridge supervisor, reported that the crane is ready for bids and that they will be hauling dirt to the bridge on 105th in Jefferson Township. Bridge #1860006 over Marrowbone Creek off of Waltz Avenue in Sheridan Township was closed on May 1, 2007. The county commission is looking into removing this bridge from the inventory.
Elizabeth Langdon and her son met with the commission regarding the bridge on 105th in Jefferson Township.
David Allen was in regarding the mower tractor. He said that the road and bridge department told him that they had the mower tractor running and ready for him to use. David stated that he was going to try and finish up in Benton Township today, if the mower tractor stayed running.
Bud Iddings met with the commission regarding a bridge on 380th Street. He knows that the bridge is not repairable. Mr. Iddings needs access to his land that he farms. He stated that a low water crossing would meet their needs. The commission told Mr. Iddings because of funding they couldn’t make him any promises about what could be done to remedy the situation but that they would do some research regarding the cost.
Opening of bids for the ventilation system at the storage facility located at 609 South Main were opened at 10:15 a.m. The bid was awarded to Thompson Electric.
Linda Houghton, public administrator, filed her certificate of training for 2012.
The commissioners met with LEPC at 11 a.m.
The commissioners went to Benton, Jefferson, Washington and Jackson Township in the afternoon inspecting roads, culverts and brush.

Circuit Court
Brian K. Smith was sentenced to two days jail and a $425 fine for misdemeanor possession of marijuana before Judge Jason Kanoy. A traffic charge of vision reducing material was dismissed.

Jarom L. Williams, Hamilton, was charged April 26 with non-support, class D felony.
