The Dog Creek Bridge was built in 1953 and has been replaced with a new bridge under the Safe & Sound Bridge Improvement Program. The Safe & Sound Bridge Program will replace or rehabilitate 802 bridges statewide by the end of 2012. In Northwest Missouri, 190 bridges will be replaced, more than any other region in the state. In Daviess County, 15 bridges will be improved under the program. Twelve of these bridges have been completed. The Route J Dog Creek and Marrowbone Creek bridges will also be replaced later this year, in addition to the Grindstone Creek Bridge on Route E.
