Gallatin City Administrator Zac Johnson discussed the possibility of annexing the city cemeteries into the city limits during the regular meeting of the Gallatin Board of Aldermen held April 16.
"We are looking to annex Brown, Greenwood, and Greenwood Addition to Brown," Johnson stated. "They are currently just outside the city limits. Since they our outside the city limits our officers have no jurisdiction out there. We need the ability to enforce our ordinances and laws out there and not rely on the county."
In other business at Monday’s meeting the board approved a liquor license for Dungy’s Grocery Store with the approval of state licensing.
Johnson stated he is exploring a possible new work schedule for the city employees to help reduce overtime.
Discussion was held on the repairs to city hall’s roof, drainage issues throughout town, and a possible tree grant.
Johnson and Public Works Director Mercer would visit the Camp Dodge water plant on April 19.
Police Chief Mark Richards discussed the submitted report on activity from March 26 to April 16 with the following reports taken and tickets given: three dogs at large, one illegal parking, four property damage, two curfew violations, three domestic disturbances, one unlocked building at the park, one medical assist, two child beyond control, one child abuse, one animal abuse/neglect, one vehicle in grass at park, one kids hitting car with football, three discharge paint ball guns within city limits, three trespassing, one lost dog, three stealing, three vehicle lockouts, one shoplifting, one goats out, two child neglect, one 911 hang up, one welfare check, one hazardous road. There are four dogs in the pound.
Richards stated that the new camera system has been installed in the police station. He also commented on code violations.
Bills in the amount of $135,973.24 were approved for payment.
The following election certification results were submitted by the Daviess County Clerk: east Ward John Whitfield 23; west ward Dan Lockridge 22. The position as alderman is for two years. The oath of office was given to the newly elected officials on April 13. The current board members changed seats with the new board members.
The following were appointed: Whitfield as president of the board; Johnson as planning and zoning administrator; Robert Cowherd, Chapman, Cowherd, Turner & Tschannen, PC, as city attorney; Julia Filley as municipal court attorney.
Discussion was held on the financial review and the 2012-13 appointments.
The annual allowance for employee clothing of $300 per employee was expended.
Comments by aldermen were made regarding drainage issues.
Public comments were made regarding Motorcycle Awareness Month, nuisance violations, and pot holes.

City Clerk Autumn Acree was absent.
