A trip to Albany last Thursday (April 19) netted four first place medals for Gallatin track athletes, as well as a second place team finish for the girls and third place finish for the boys.

Isaac Mattis cleared the bar at 11 feet to win the pole vault event. Kailey Salmon won the 800-meter run in 2:33.57. The 4×400-meter relay team of Salmon, Bailey Morrison, Kailey Elbert and Sara Lin won in 4:31.62. The same quartet also won the 4×800-meter relay in 10:33.74.

Gilman City’s Saige Johnson scored 20 points for her team by winning both the 100-meter dash (14.02) and 200-meter dash (28.27). Brennon Carey placed third in the shot (39-4.75) and fourth in the discus (124-1.75) for the Hawks. Ryan Burrows was fifth in the 110-meter high hurdles (20.64) and sixth in the 300-meter hurdles (48.82).

GHS girls set Tiger Relays record in 3200-meter relay

A new relay record, plus four first place finishes, highlighted Gallatin’s participation in the Worth County Tiger Relays on April 17.

The 4×800-meter relay team of Bailey Morrison, Sara Lin, Kailey Elbert and Kailey Salmon ran a 10:26.

Lin also won the 400-meter dash in 1:02.06. Salmon was a winner in the 800-meter run, in a time of 2:29.46.

Donovan Stout claimed the lone victory for the boys, winning the 400-meter dash in 53.34.
