April 10, 2002 – Gallatin High School’s golf quartet of Brice Garnett, Jake Humphrey, Duke Burge and Pat Dickinson continue to roll through area competition. The Bulldogs bested Lawson by 17 strokes and beat Hamilton by 25 strokes in a pair of home meets held at Daviess County Country Club.

April 8, 1992 – Craig Cummings won an impressive unanimous decision over Kevin Grantham in an eight-round junior middleweight fight held at El Dorado, Ill. Cummings improved to 14-1 and upped his chances of becoming a world-ranked boxer seeking a title fight.
April 13, 1972 – Major League Baseball Player Representative Marvin Miller suggested President Nixon mediate the current player-owner baseball impasse but even Democrats conceded that Nixon has better things to do. It’s too bad that more owners aren’t like Gussie Busch of St. Louis and Ewing Kaufman of Kansas City, who operate their clubs for the betterment of the community, rather than just for personal profit.
April 12, 1962 – Faculty members of GHS proved their physical fitness when they led the senior boys on a merry chase on the basketball court and won a 55-49 game. Faculty team members were Bobby Kelley, Keith Groom, Gene Holt, Jerry Brown, Richard Roda and Coach Tom McDaniels. The senior’s lineup included Mike Warnes, Jim Wilson, Bill Elbert, Ronnie McNeel, Gary Swofforrd, Bob DeGeorge and Dick Paul.
April 9, 1942 – A fire in the basement of the Gallatin school building, which started when a pile of trash ignited, did considerable smoke damage and burned a hole in the floor of Room No. 4 in the north part of the building. The volunteer fire department responded but a regular fire hose was not needed to extinguish the blaze. A garden hose at the school was sufficient.
