If you are reading this article and you get your paper on Thursday and it’s not past 7 p.m. you still may have time to catch the opening show of "110 in the Shade" at the Gallatin Theater. The doors of the theater will open at 6 p.m. each night of the show March 29, 30 and 31 for ticket sales. Tickets continue to be on sale at Eileine’s Beauty Shop through the day.  "The next three nights are what it’s all about.

Hearing the applause and laughter is our payment," said Director Rhonda McCann.

The cast members said they felt very fortunate to have Ann Wood as the music director and Rhonda McCann as the director. Throw in lighting by Paul Caven and sound by Mark Gay and you have a show that is a must see.

"We want to do a great job for them as well as the audience," says Lance Rains, who plays H.C. Curry in this production.

"I have wanted to bring "110 in the Shade" to the Courter Theater stage for several years because I believed it would be well suited to our acting troupe," said director Rhonda McCann. "The music, at times, hopeful, funny, beautiful, and haunting, helps tell the story of a family in 1930s Texas at the height of a dry-spell. Lizzie Curry is smart, loving, hard-working, …..and unmarried. She is sister to two brothers, Noah and Jim, and daughter to widower H.C. Curry. The local sheriff, File, might be a suitor for Lizzie but appears to have a secret to hide. Then, to this drought-stricken town comes Starbuck – a self-proclaimed rainmaker. He becomes the catalyst for change for everyone, even for himself, and how he does this is …. well, you’ll just have to watch and see!"

"Let our Lizzie (Annie Gibson) melt your heart with songs like ‘Love Don’t Turn Away’ and ‘Simple Little Things’", added the case. "Be impressed with our powerful chorus numbers ‘Hungry Men’, ‘Everything Beautiful’, and ‘The Rain Song’ led by Starbuck (Kenny Youtsey). Our advice to the people of this area… Come see it, you’ll be glad you did!"
