Despite soggy conditions, Gallatin R-5 men’s golfers hit the links in Maysville for their season opener last Thursday afternoon.
Four golfers were in action Thursday, Grant Simmons, Chris Cameron, Tyler Carder and Derrik Baldwin. Two more, Peter Steele and Zane Snow, began competing this week.
Simmons shot a 43 on Thursday, along with Maysville’s Jake Riggs, to share runnerup honor in the medalist race. Hamilton’s Shawn Cook grabbed that honor with a round of 39.
Cameron carded a 51, Carder shot 53 and Baldwin shot 63 on Thursday.
The Bulldogs traveled to Richmond on Friday for a best ball tournament, hosted by Orrick. Simmons and Cameron combined for an 89 to finish 10th out of 29 teams. Carder and Baldwin shot a combined 115.
Gallatin golfers host Maysville and South Harrison today (Wednesday) at Daviess County Country Club.
