Four Gallatin wrestlers competed in the tough Brute Adidas Corn Cob National Tournament last weekend in the Jacobson Center on the Iowa State Fair Grounds in Des Moines.

While unable to bring home the much coveted "Golden Corn Cob" award, the quartet came back with two medals and much experience from the national event.

Peter Steele, competing in a 24-person bracket, won four straight matches to reach the finals before succumbing to a Lee’s Summit, Mo., wrestler. He brought home a second place medal.

Chad Ness won three hard-fought matches before bowing out of the tournament just short of bringing home a medal.

Chase Morrison, Gallatin eighth grader, saw his first action in a large national style tournament. He lost two extremely close matches but picked up experience to use next year at the varsity level.

Levi Michener came out of retirement to compete in the 19 and over, 170-pound weight class. He went 3-1 on the day to score a third-place medal.
