Feb. 20, 2002 – Gallatin’s girls, led by Roxi Davitt, Erin Sweatman, Kayli and Kamille Burrell, are the top seed in the district basketball tournament to be held at Grundy County High School in Galt.
Feb. 19, 1992 – Gallatin gunned down two conference rivals to clinch a second consecutive undefeated GRC basketball title. Four Bulldogs, Will Salmon, Scott Shipers, Daniel Madison and Clint Pitzenbarger, finished in double figures in the title clinching game.
Feb. 24, 1982 – Bill Eaton became Gallatin’s first wrestling state champion ever in convincing style at the Hearnes Center on the University of Missouri-Columbia campus. Eaton won all 27 season matches in the 167-pound weight class, including 23 by pins.
Feb. 27, 1972 – Former Jameson High School star Paul Drummond is one of only two freshmen to be named to the 1971-72 Fighting Mules basketball squad at Central Missouri State College in Warrensburg. The 6’6" forward scored 1,825 points in four years at Jameson High School. He is averaging over 14 points per game this season for the Mules.
Feb. 21, 1952 – The Kidder Pirates defeated the Coffey Wolves, 65-64, in a thriller on Feb. 18. Paul Baumgardner racked 30 points for Coffey. Evans of Kidder got 22 to lead his team.
Feb. 19, 1942 – Leslie E. Stewart, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Stewart of Gallatin, is a star on the Annapolis Business College basketball team. Young Stewart graduated from Gallatin High School with the class of 1940.
