Consolation bracket games await Gallatin teams tonight (Wednesday) as a result of disappointing showings in the opening round of the Hamilton Invitational Tournament.
Outside shooting, coupled with a distinct height advantage, propelled West Platte’s second-seeded boys to an easy 59-20 victory over Gallatin in Monday’s opening round. The Blue Jays nailed three-pointers on their first two game possessions and held the Bulldogs to only nine field goals in the contest.
Chris Cameron’s six points were high for Gallatin, which faces sixth-seeded Trenton tonight at 9 p.m. in the loser’s bracket. The two teams split earlier meetings in December. The winner advances to the 6 p.m. Friday consolation final.
Gallatin’s girls faced a similar onslaught in their opener, falling to third-seeded Putnam County, 61-28, on Tuesday. Kailey Salmon and Sara Lin did all the scoring for the Lady Bulldogs in the first half when Gallatin struggled to keep up, 34-14.
Salmon finished with 14 points. Lin added seven.
The Lady Bulldogs face Richmond at 7:30 p.m. tonight for the right to play in the 4:30 p.m. Friday consolation championship.
