The Lady Bulldogs upped their season record to 7-5 with a 42-31 third place victory over Richmond. The GHS boys fell to 8-4 after a 56-45 loss to West Platte, but the Bulldogs will get another shot at the Blue Jays in the opening round of the upcoming Hamilton Tournament.

The Lady Bulldogs built a double digit lead in the second quarter and never led by less than 10 points despite multiple chances for the Lady Spartans to eat into the lead in the fourth quarter. Kaitlyn Hefley’s running shot in the lane ahead of the buzzer gave Gallatin a 28-13 half time lead. Sloppy play in the second half enabled Richmond to stay within striking distance through an 18-14 scoring edge.

Hefley finished with 12 points to lead the Lady Bulldogs. Kailey Salmon added 10. Sara Lin and Tory Wood chipped in nine and seven points, respectively. For her play, Wood was named to the all-tournament team at the conclusion of the event.

The Lady Bulldogs were no match for host Lawson in Thursday’s semifinal round, losing 59-19 to the eventual tournament champs. Wood led Gallatin with eight points and Aubrey Nelson added five for the GHS girls.

Gallatin’s boys rebounded from a first round loss to Hamilton to defeat Plattsburg, 52-45 on Wednesday. Dexter Daniel combined 27 points with 22 rebounds to lead the Dogs to victory. Chris Cameron added 10 points, 11 rebounds, five assists and five steals. Preston Turley contributed nine points and Derrick Lin added another eight for the Bulldogs.

West Platte’s 16-8 run in the second quarter proved to be the difference in Friday’s consolation tilt as the two teams played even ball in the second half.

Cameron paced Gallatin with 16 points. Lin and Daniel added 12 and 11 points, respectively.
