Daviess County State Representative Casey Guernsey of Bethany is pictured with members of the Gallatin Rotary Club on Jan 3, holding a t-shirt of the fourth annual Gallatin Alumni Basketball Tournament held in November 2011.
The shirt is a donated piece of Daviess County memorabilia to be placed in a time capsule located in the floor of the House of Representatives at the beginning of official legislative session this week. A particular open space was discovered during the interim in the floor during scheduled maintenance. Speaker Steve Tilley decided to create a time capsule to be filled with small items from towns and villages around the state. The time capsule will be sealed and re-opened in 100 years with the intention of items being sent back to their places of origin. Representative Guernsey will place the item in the time capsule before the start of the 2012 legislative session. Reta Rains, county treasurer, helped coordinate the donation. Pictured, left to right, are Roger Eichler, Linda Houghton, Kyle Parkhurst, Julia Filley, Rep. Guernsey, Dale Alexander, Joe Billings, Jeremy Dungy and Reta Rains.
