The Missouri Department of conservation will host a free Whitetail Deer Management Workshop on Saturday, Jan. 28.

The event will be held at the A.V. Spillman Event Center at 308 S. Broadway in Jamesport, and will run from 1-4 p.m. All landowners and land managers interested in learning how to enhance the health, habitat and management of whitetail deer are encouraged to attend.

Emily Flinn, MDC private land deer biologist, is the featured speaker. Finn is a native of central Kentucky. She receive her master’s degree from Mississippi State University, researching causes of regional variation in deer antler and body size. Landowners will learn about whitetail biology, management strategies, hunter management, habitat management, herd management and monitoring and where to go for planning assistance.

Attendees are encouraged to bring antlers from past harvested bucks or sheds they have found for display and conversation. Refreshments and handout materials will be provided.
