Olive Baptist

Brother David’s Sunday morning message was "Jesus: Our High Priest" from Hebrews 8. We had a video presentation entitled "Emmanuel." We will be collecting Lottie Moon offerings through next Sunday. We will hold business meeting next Sunday after morning worship, followed by a fellowship dinner in celebration of the new year. Everyone is invited to attend.

Lake Viking

Happy Birthday Jesus was Pastor Robert Nelson’s sermon on Christmas from Luke 2:21-40. MariBeth Nelson led the youth in singing happy birthday to Jesus as the service began. The special music was "Mary Did you Know" sung by Ben Becerra.

There will be a New Years eve watch night party at the church beginning at 8 p.m. Saturday. Everyone is asked to bring their favorite snack and a small "White Elephant" gift for the bingo prize table.

The women’s Bible study group meets Wednesday morning at 10 a.m., the youth group meets Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. and the adult Bible study group meets on Wednesday at 7 p.m.

Fairview

Dixie Alexander opened services singing "Happy Birthday to Our Lord Jesus." Marsha Vanisko played piano. The message was "Oh, What A Gift," from Luke 1. "Communion" was celebrated with scripture from 1 Corinthians 11.

Special prayer requests are for Mary Parkhurst, Gene McFadin, Vern Bridgman, Melvin and Marvin McFee, Robert Morrison, Beth Hollifield. After services we shared a birthday cake made for and in remembrance of Jesus.

Gallatin First Christian

At Christmas Day unity service, Pastor Russ Hamilton gave the message "Gifts" based on John 1:1-18. Barbara Wilson gave the children’s message. At our Christmas Eve candlelight service we had eight baptisms. Additions to our prayer wheel include the family of Kenneth Smith, Tonya and Ira Sloan, Jackie Parker and Larry Crabtree. Wednesday evening Prayer meeting begins at 5:30 p.m., followed by Bible study at 6 p.m. Stickin’ with Jesus practice meets Sunday evenings at 5:30 p.m., men’s Bible study group meets Sunday night at 6 p.m. and youth groups meet every second Sunday of the month at 6 p.m.

Gallatin United Methodist

The message was "Emmanuel, God With Us," from John 1:1-5 and 14. The Leibold brothers, grandsons of our organist Jan Johnson, sang special music accompanied by their mother Mandy Leibold. Several "thank you" cards were received from college students for remembering them during finals.

Prayer concerns: Ray Willis, Glen Kimberlin, Patrick McBroom, Elvin Noel, Georgia Maxwell, Ralph Davis, Roy Duncan, Evelyn Riley, Edna Clement, Leila Rose Hartpence and service men and women who are unable to spend the holidays with their families.

Altamont United Methodist

Lighting the Christ candle for Christmas day was by Lewis and Nancy Schoonover, a peaceful beautiful story on Christmas Eve night. Sunday School lesson was from Luke 1:46-56, "God’s Promises are Fulfilled in Jesus and About Mary’s Song."

Remember the best gift of the year is a hug you can give to someone. We appreciate the love gift given by Chester and Paula Burcham in memory of her parents George and Dorothy Handley and their son Nathan Burcham. Our continued prayers are for Bro. Ralph Davis.

Pattonsburg Baptist

Bro. Dan brought the message "The Shepherds," from Luke 2:8-20. Alex and Robin Mason brought special music. The ordinance of the Lord’s Supper was observed. The fresh flowers in the sanctuary were a gift from Al’s Floral. There will be no Wednesday evening service.

Pattonsburg Christian

Scripture reading was from Luke 2: 8-20. Rev Terry Oliphant massage was "Life of Hope," from Matthew 2:1-15. Pattonsburg and Heath UMC Charge

A large group of combined church fellowship Sunday enjoyed the special music and Christmas service and also the refreshments that followed the service. Special music was by the Hendrix family and Angela Mossburg. Prayers are for the Shaw family. Jan. 1, 2012, will be Bible dedication service in both churches.
