Dear Editor:
There is a statement in the opening of the article [North Daviess decides about credits, full-year courses] about credits being transferred for students. The credits in question are not eighth grade credits, but high school credits earned while in eighth grade as is clearly reflected in the high school transcript that the school received when Caitlyn enrolled for ninth grade.
We asked the school at that time to put her in the next math up, but they refused even when it was clear she had already taken algebra 1 before. The school should have either accepted the credit or given her a credit by exam, both of which the State of Missouri allow. She is currently trying to get in to the Missouri Academy and is behind because they require algebra 2 which the school will not let her take until next year.
We have been trying to get her in to algebra 2 since the start of this school year and have been stalled multiple times by the administration and finally went before the school board with the results you have printed. I just wanted to clarify this issue.
Sincerely,
Ray Prater
