Funeral services for Bertram Shafer were held Monday, Dec. 26, at the Roberson Funeral Home, Bethany. Burial was in McFall Cemetery. Arrangements were by Roberson Funeral Home, Bethany. Bertram Lee Shafer, 77, Bethany, died Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2011.
He was born Aug. 5, 1934, in Gentry County, the son of Wilfred Francis and Quinnie Lee (Arant) Shafer.
On March 24, 1955, he married Betty Jo (Elder) Shafer in Princeton. She preceded him in death on Sept. 2, 2011.
Bert had worked as a parts man for International Harvestor for 40 years at Sydenstrickers in Macon. After he retired, he drove for Pettijohn Auto in Bethany.
He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church, Bethany.
Survivors include his daughter, Charmayne Robertson, Bethany; sons: Kevin Shafer, Farmington, and Tony Shafer, Dexter; sisters, Juanita Woodward, McFall, and Linda Wilson, Albany; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
