Salvador Garcia Jr., 22, Kansas City, Kan., was arrested for drug trafficking on Dec. 6 when 110 pounds of processed marijuana were found inside two large boxes in his vehicle.
Sgt. Larry Allen made a traffic stop on Garcia’s vehicle on the exit ramp at the 64-mile marker of northbound I-35 and noticed an overwhelming smell of air freshener in the car. While Garcia was in Sgt. Allen’s patrol car during a vehicle registration check, Sgt. Wilhoit deployed his canine "Charlie" on Garcia’s car. The dog indicated positively on the vehicle, and a probable cause search was conducted.
Garcia has been charged with the class B felony of possession of controlled substance with intent to distribute. He is being held on $75,000 bond.
