Merton Armond Pooler, age 86, Pattonsburg, was born July 2, 1925 to Dwight and Corinne Pooler in Cornel, Wis., and passed away Dec. 11, 2011 at his home in Santa Rosa.

Merton served in the United State States Navy and served our country during WWII on two aircraft carriers USS RANGER and USS SHANGRI-LA.

On Sept. 9, 1948 Merton and Jean Ann Goosey were united in marriage in Pineville, Mo. To this union three children were born.

Merton was a Teamster Local 41 for 29 years and drove for Tri Angle Transfer. He loved his family, gardening, hunting, and fishing on the Grand River.

He is preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, Malcolm, Brian, Curtis, and Clifford.

Survivors include his wife Jean Ann, of the home; three children, Merton James Pooler (Ellen), Gladstone, Vickie Price (John), Wichita, Kan., and Bonnie Pooler of the home; three grandchildren, Chris Pooler, Tammy Vareman, and Hannah Price; and two great-grandchildren, Cody and Shelby Vareman.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2011 at Bram-Turner Funeral Home, Maysville with burial in Woods Cemetery, Fairport, Mo., with Military Honors. Visitation: one hour prior to service Wednesday at the funeral home. Friends may call on funeral home after 2 pm. Tuesday.
