Dear Editor:
Volunteers hand deliver each box at its destination. With each box a booklet entitled “The Greatest Gift of All” will be given in that child’s own language. Also offered is a 12-week Bible study created specifically for children around the world. Thanks to you who packed shoe boxes for Operation Christmas Child with items most people take for granted, including toothpaste, toys, pencils, and so much more. The boxes you packed in love and with prayer will delight a child who lives in poverty and may have never received a gift.
“The Greatest Journey” is a story based curriculum taught by trained local volunteer teachers using memory verses and engaging activities to teach children how to receive Jesus, follow Him each day, and share their faith in Him with others. When graduation day arrives each child receives a certificate and New Testament Bible in their own language.
Bibles are rare in many countries and may become instant treasures not only to the children but to their families as well.
The Pattonsburg First Baptist Church acted as a relay station for the Operation Christmas Child National Collection Week of Nov. 14-21. We are pleased to tell you that 1,019 boxes were received in this area, packed into large cardboard boxes, and taken by volunteers to the Word of Life Church, the Collection Center in St. Joseph for the Lower Midwest Region. This was a start on their journey to children worldwide using whatever means necessary…sea containers, trucks, trains, airplanes, helicopters, boats, elephants and dog sleds.
We at the Pattonsburg Church feel it a privilege to serve God by collecting these shoe boxes and know that He will bless you for your generosity in giving.
