The Gallatin R-5 Board of Education accepted a bid of $2,611 for bus number 12 from the River of Life Baptist Church of Cameron, and a bid of $1,000 on the 21 passenger mini-bus from David Brown of Pattonsburg during their regular meeting held Nov. 17.

The resignation of Glenda St. John was accepted. She will retire at the end of the school year, June 2012.
The board authorized the administration to look into getting information on the four-day school week and report back at the next meeting.
A scholarship in the name of former teacher Mark Strasser will be established through the school.
The high school had 72% attendance at the recent Parent/Teacher conference and the elementary school had 94%.
Michael Youd was selected for All-State Choir.
A basketball cheerleading fund raiser was approved.
Gorden Harrah was approved as a route driver for the second semester.
Joyce Cox reported that Gallatin is Accredited with Distinction in Performance for 2011-2012.
Updated Professional Development Plan and the Technology Plan were approved.
Board filings will begin Dec. 13 and continue until Jan. 3, 2012. Gallatin has two spots up for election. The election is on April 3, 2012.
The board entered into executive session to discuss personnel, student issues and other business.
The loss of revenue currently occurring with the lunch program was discussed. More information will be furnished the board in the coming months.
Superintendent evaluations will be reviewed and given back before the December meeting at which time the board will evaluate the superintendent.
The board offered the elementary basketball coaching positions to Doug Nichols and Angel Michael.
Board members attending were Tim Bradford, Priscilla Whitt, William Irby and Tim Tadlock. Jesse Bird and Trent Dowell were absent.
Next board meeting was set for 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 15, in the library.
