Harold E. Neff Jr., 64, of Gilman City, passed away Saturday, Nov. 26, 2011, at the Heartland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph. Graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 30 at the Shelburne Cemetery near Trenton. Family visitation will be 6-8 pm Tuesday evening at McWilliams Funeral Home in Gallatin, where friends may call after 11 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Shelburne Cemetery in care of McWilliams Funeral Home.

Harold was born Feb. 7, 1947 to Harold and Winona (Caselman) Neff in Trenton, Mo. He graduated from Southgate High School in California in 1968. Upon graduation, Harold enlisted in the US Army where he served in Vietnam for a year. After returning from the service, Harold began working for Wright’s Tree Service, in Iowa, where he worked for several years. Harold was united in marriage to Marie Sievers on July 1, 1976. The couple made their home in Gilman City, where they lived all their married lives. Harold began working as a welder for Landmark in 1985, where he was employed for 25 years. He always had a smile on his face and an upbeat personality and was nicknamed by his co-workers "happy."
Harold was skilled with his hands, and enjoyed the time he spent doing woodworking, tackling any project with ease. In his earlier years, Harold delighted in the time he spent outdoors whether it was hunting or fishing. He was a kind man who loved spending time with his family. Harold was a dedicated husband, loving brother, uncle and grandfather who was an inspiration to many. He will be greatly missed.
Harold is preceded in death by his parents, son Jimmy Neff, sister Loretta May Neff.
Harold is survived by his wife Marie Neff of the home, sister Donnzetta Prewitt of Trenton, Mo., grandchildren Nicki Steinhurst, Kenny Neff, Harold Neff, all of Gilman City, step-children Mike Wickman of Chillicothe and Connie Youngblood of Columbia, SC.
