Filing dates for the April board election for Pattonsburg R-2 were set for Dec. 13, 2011, through Jan. 17, 2012 on days school is in session only, during the regular meeting of the Pattonsburg R-2 Board of Education held Nov. 21. Board terms are up this April for Patty Hartley and Tracy Parton.

All of the outside lighting has been installed. Due to wind and cool weather workers have not been able to paint the rest of the building so that will take place as a summer project. The same goes with the block sealant; it requires a warmer temperature to apply.

Mrs. Cornett’s elementary report: ending attendance for the month of October was 97.66%. Student enrollment is now 111 students, PK-6. Students who were nominated for demonstrating the character trait of "self control" were Emily Henry, K; Desirae Morrow, first grade; Jillian Plymell, second grade; Jimmie Nalle, third grade; Brittani Worthey, fourth grade; Logan Pankau, fifth grade; and Peyton Jones, sixth grade.

The Student of the Month was Jillian Plymell.

Nutrition is off to a good start through the Missouri Extension Office. Angie Rhoad is the instructor currently assigned to our district. She provides classes in grades PK-5. Julia Schmitz from NWRPDC facilitated our in-service on Nov. 11 as we analyzed our 2011 MAP data in CA and MA. Strengths and weaknesses were identified, and action plans were begun on ways to improve instruction and student achievement. Coming up on the calendar: Early 12:30 p.m. dismissal on Nov. 23 –Thanksgiving break; No school on Nov. 24 and 25; Christmas program – Dec. 7 at 6 p.m.

Mr. Hodge’s H.S. report: attendance rate for the month of October was 95.25%. Parent-Teacher Conference turnout was 90%. The high school band received third place at the NWMSU Homecoming parade Oct. 30 in the class 2 division. The high school co-op football team with King City finished the season with a post-season appearance in Class 1 State Football. The football team finished (3-7), with a District Championship. JH boys and girls basketball season is complete. The boys finished with a record of (7-6) and received consolation at the Winston tournament. The girls finished (9-3) with a third place finish at the Winston tournament and a third place finish at the Tri-County tournament. High School Academic Team finished the season (5-5). High school basketball practice began Oct. 31 (10 Girls and 15 Boys). The varsity basketball season tips off Dec. 2 vs. Cainsville. Grades K-12 attended a Veterans Day assembly Nov. 11 at Pattonsburg. School will dismiss at 12:30 Nov. 23 for Thanksgiving break. Juniors will be taking the ASVAB test Dec. 1. The K-12 Winter Concert is scheduled for Dec. 7 at 6 p.m. First semester finals are scheduled for Dec. 19 and 20.

The annual M.U.S.I.C. liability insurance quote was approved. The board also approved an extra one million in liability because we own our own busses and we took out the extra cyber insurance that office.

The board also approved a variety of updated policies, regulations, and forms set forth by our MCE policies that need updating.

The next board meeting will be at 5 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 19.
