A resurgent football season by Gallatin led to nine All-Grand River Conference honors for the Bulldogs, who improved from 1-9 a year ago to 5-4 under new coach Kevin Meyer.
Junior Chad Ness received multiple awards because of his versatility. Ness was named to the all-conference first team as both a split end and return specialist. He caught 31 passes for 637 yards and six touchdowns and chalked up 14 punt and kick returns for 200 yards and a score. He also rushed for 459 yards and four TDs.
Ness also received honorable mention at punter after averaging 38.8 yards in 21 exchanges.
Senior Brandon Hunt made his mark on both sides of the ball. He received first-team all-GRC at linebacker after registering 106 tackles and two fumble recoveries. Hunt was also named second-team offensive guard.
Junior Isaac Mattis was a first-team honoree at defensive back. He finished the season with 71 tackles and one interception.
Gallatin’s leading ground-gainer, Jordan Jeffers, was named second-team runningback despite the Bulldogs’ pass-oriented offense. Jeffers, a senior, rushed for 739 yards with a 5.9 average per carry, and scored eight touchdowns. He also caught six passes for 36 yards.
Senior Jim Dale, a first-year starter, received second-team recognition at defensive tackle. He finished with 32 tackles and one quarterback sack.
Junior Dexter Daniel, a two-way starter, was named honorable mention at tight end, where he caught 13 passes for 203 yards and three scores. He averaged 15.6 yards per catch.
Senior Peter Steele received honorable mention at outside linebacker. He finished with 59 tackles and one fumble recovery.
