Representatives from the Jameson Community Betterment (JCB) organization accepted the third place plaque and cash award for the group’s work over the past year.

Seven communities participated in the Missouri Community Betterment’s annual competition in Category One (smallest population). South Iron-Annapolis placed first and Allendale placed second in this category. In total, 38 communities and 12 individuals were honored during the 48th Missouri Community Betterment (MCB) conference in Jefferson City. Clinton (Category Six –largest population) won the overall Grand Prize for 2011.

The projects submitted by JCB for the 2010-2011 competition included:

1) Defibrillator for North Daviess school (purchase, placement and training);

2) $500 scholarship for graduating North Daviess student (established in 2011);

3) Village Christmas Shoppe, which raised more than $1,200 for Jameson;

4) Plan and implement major street improvements for Jameson; and,

5) Demolition of two unsafe buildings.

Jameson has received previous awards from MCB:

2001 – Second place in Category One

2007- First place in Category One and overall Grand Prize for the entire State

2008 – Fifth place in Category One

The Jameson Community Betterment Association, Inc. is a 501(c) 3 (charitable) organization and meets monthly, except December, on the third Wednesday evening of the month. Their purpose is to work with all individuals and organizations to improve the quality of life in the community. The meetings are open to the public and more participation by the Jameson community members is sought.
