James Lewis, bridge supervisor, reported on repairs being made in Sheridan Township. Also, the contractor may be at the Jefferson Township bridge site on 105th Street this week to bore the sockets for the piling.

Ben Becerra, sheriff, met with the commission regarding vehicle repairs, grant funding, and security measures.

Raymond Heldenbrand, Extension Council, requested that the Commission fill the vacancy on their board following the death of Danny Heldenbrand. Randy Sims moved to appoint Carl Carder to fill the vacancy. David Cox seconded. Cox – yes; Carder – yes; Sims – yes.

Bob Burnett, Snyder and Associates, met with the commission for execution of a progress invoice for BRO project 32.

Chuck Weldon, Harrison Township, met with the commission regarding a bridge on 260th Street in Monroe Township. He is requesting a small bridge be replaced with a tube. The commission will inspect.

Randy Sims moved to go into closed session to discuss a possible property purchase. David Cox seconded. Cox – yes; Carder – yes; Sims – yes. No decisions being made, the commission returned to regular session.

In the afternoon, the commission inspected an easement problem on CART road 444 in Union Township. The landowner is clearing the easement. They also inspected brush removal progress on CART road 504 in Liberty Township. They met with Derrick Gott, at the state highway department for introductory purposes.

Todd Watson, deputy sheriff, met with the commission reporting information from the recent training for the deputy’s supplemental salary grant.

Following discussion of possible security measures, Randy Sims moved to close all entrances to the courthouse, except the east door, on days when court is in session, effective Jan. 1, 2012. This will allow for the metal detector to be placed on the first floor, increasing security. David Cox seconded. Cox – yes; Carder – yes; Sims – yes.

These are the unapproved minutes of Oct. 24, 2011. All commissioners were in attendance. Minutes were approved.

Sheriff’s Office

Mary Simmons, 56, Pattonsburg was arrested Oct. 25 on a Ray County warrant for felony forgery. She is being held on $75,000 bond.

Benjamin Gerald Cole, 34, Gallatin, was arrested Oct. 25 for parole violations on an original charge of forgery. He was returned to the Department of Corrections.

Janice Wynn, 51, Trenton, was arrested Oct. 21 when her bond was revoked on an original charge of possession of methamphetamine on jail property. She is being held on $35,000 bond.

Terrance Daughtery, 30, Des Moines, Iowa, was arrested Oct. 22 for probation violations on an original felony charge of possession of controlled substance. Bond was denied.

Bryan Stark Jr., 17, Jamesport was charged Oct. 21 with felony resisting arrest. He is being held on $15,000 bond. Stark was arrested when he tried to escape from two deputies who had gone to his house to serve a warrant on another charge.

Property damage to school buses at North Daviess R-3 School was reported Oct. 17.

Circuit Court

The following cases were heard before Judge Thomas Chapman on Oct. 19:

Default judgments were entered for the FIA Card Services and against Connie D. Conover; and for Midwestern health Management and against Anthony C. Hogan.

A quiet title judgment was entered for Robert V. Simmons etal and against Julie Blevins etal.

Dissolutions of marriage were granted to Janna D. Qualman from Michael S. Qualman; and to Rick F. Hendricks from Deena S. Hendricks.

Civil cases filed: State ex rel DOR vs. Joseph E. Potts Jr., certificate of lien, DOR, taxes; Division of Employment Security vs. Barney Esbeck, transcript judgment.

Associate Division

Lee Costner, Clarksdale and Sonja L. Goll, Winston, have each been charged with one count of felony passing bad checks.

Defendants found guilty in the Associate Division of the Circuit Court of Daviess County are listed below with the offense and fine assessed. Additionally, court costs collected for the State of Missouri amount to $68.50 for moving traffic violations and $116.50 in most criminal cases. Judge Daren Adkins presided over the following cases:

Douglas Cunningham, Independence, driving while suspended amended to no valid license, $150; no seat belt, $10.

John W. Mahler, Kansas City, driving while suspended amended to no valid license, $150; operated motor vehicle with vision reducing material, $28.50.

Jason M. Sholl, Buffalo Grove, Ill., possession of drug paraphernalia, $150; speeding, $88.50.

Jeffery Maples, Cameron, speeding, suspended imposition of sentence, 2 years probation, 12 hours community service.

Jesse A. Morris, Maysville, assault second degree amended to misdemeanor assault third degree, 7 days jail, board bill paid by defendant.

Carolyn R. Troyer, Jamesport, minor visibly intoxicated, suspended imposition of sentence, 2 years probation, 30 hours community service; littering, suspended imposition of sentence, 2 years probation, 30 hours community service.

Daniel J. Leininger, Hamilton, no valid license, $150; possession of drug paraphernalia, $150; speeding, $28.50.

Donald L. Rice, Jameson, no valid license, $150; possession of marijuana, 48 hours jail, board bill paid by defendant; possession of paraphernalia, $150.
