Winston’s Board of Trustees discussed problems with the city park during their meeting held Oct. 3.

Board members reported having witnessed three male juveniles at the park after closing hours. There was no vandalism in the park restroom, but their was concern that a lock had been picked. The board considered changing the lock to a hasp and padlock. It was stated that police recently asked young people to vacate the park after 10 p.m. The board discussed patrols at the park at various times of the day or night. Reports were also heard of citizen complaints of trash left in the park by youth.
In other business, the board carried a motion to authorize specified stop signs and declare it unlawful to disobey such signs.
The utilities clerk reported that the bounced check that was sent to court has not been paid, and a
bench warrant has been issued for the writer’s arrest. She also reported that others have paid or made arrangements for payment.
Melvin McFee reported no problems with the sewer system. The check valve is helping with the school.
Bill Michael said that no more street work will be done until spring.
Ordinance Enforcement/Animal Control officer Janna Barton reported that the Missouri Department of Revenue has approved Winston’s request for access to motor vehicle and license information. Progress is being made on clearing blocked alleys and some inoperable vehicles cars have been removed from some locations.
Barton reported seeing multiple untagged dogs during early morning hours. Board members discussed providing ID tags and decided against it.
The clerk reported that the junk trailer on the property at Division and Lincoln has been removed and the property is being cleaned up.
