Students of Covel D. Searcy Elementary participated in a monthly character trait assembly on Oct. 10. The sixth grade class along with their Partner In Education, Gallatin Police Chief Mark Richards, presented the character trait of the month — self-control (having control over one’s actions, words, and emotions).
Elementary music teacher, Sheryl Warren, directed the sixth traders as they sang "The Character Tango," a song about being good characters and using self-control, along with other character traits such as respect, citizenship, honesty, and responsibility.
During the assembly, Mrs. Cox, elementary principal, and mascot, Champ the Bulldog, awarded four elementary students selected as September’s Students of the Month, with certificates.
September’s Students of the Month were selected by the Character Spies who searched for students demonstrating responsibility and integrity (the traits for September).
The students selected for September’s Students of the Month were: first grader, Kyle Stimpson, second grader, Breanna Loucks, fifth grader, Brigham Steele, and sixth grader, Courtney Shubert.
