It took three final round eagles by Miguel Carballo to keep Gallatin’s Brice Garnett off the winner’s podium at last week’s Children’s Hospital Classic held in Chattanooga, Tenn.

Garnett finished runnerup in the Children’s Classic for his first top 10 performance on the Nationwide Tour, and cashed a check for $54,000 for his efforts. The former Missouri Western star started the final round in third place but drew to within one shot of Carballo with one hole left to play. Garnett parred the final hole while Carballo registered a birdie to win the tournament by two strokes.

Garnett has twice won on the eGolf Tour in 2011. His previous best finish in a Nationwide event was 15th in the Rex Hospital Open in June.

The Nationwide Tour is the PGA Tour’s secondary circuit. This is Garnett’s second year of competition in nationwide events.
