Lena M. Mastin, 83, Stanberry, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2011 in Stanberry, Mo.

She was born May 28, 1928 in Isadora, Mo., the daughter of George Edgar and Althea (Newby) Carroll.

On April 12, 1945, she married Dudley A. Mastin in Troy, Kan. To this union five children were born, Carol (Buster) Cook of Ford City, Ann (Lloyd) Walker of Stanberry, Bill (Chretta) of Winston, twins, Larry (Janita), of Georgia and Mary (Thom) Keet of Maryland.

Lena was a member of the United Methodist Church of Stanberry. She was baptized in 1953. Lena helped the Stanberry community get a volunteer ambulance started when independent owners had to stop. She worked several years as a volunteer before becoming employed by the Grand River Ambulance District. She put in over 25 years with the ambulance. She also drove the Gentry County Bookmobile for many years and the Stanberry school bus for 38 years. She also clerked auctions for many years, which she truly enjoyed.

Lena was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and was loved dearly by her family.

Survivors include her five children and their spouses; brother, George (Mary) Carroll, Jr., of Sheridan; sister-in-law, Marjorie Carroll, Stanberry; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband and brother, Frank E. Carroll and one grandson-in-law.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 2, 2011 at the Methodist Church of Stanberry, Mo. Burial was in the High Ridge Cemetery of Stanberry. The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. Saturday at Roberson Funeral Home of Stanberry. Memorial contributions may be made to Susan B.
