Rock to the music of The Beatles when "Yesterday and Today; A Beatles’ Review" takes the stage at 3 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 18, at the Gary Dickinson Performing Arts Center in Chillicothe. Critically acclaimed Billy McGuigan and his six-member band will present an interactive show, with audience members creating the show’s play list.
"Two years ago, Billy McGuigan and his band were in Chillicothe to present ‘Rave On’, the music of Buddy Holly," Julie Ashbrook, administrator for the Chillicothe Area Arts Council, said. "People are still talking about the Buddy Holly show, and ‘that kid who played Buddy Holly’", Ashbrook said, "and we know this Beatles show is going to be another great hit. Billy is just so talented."
As people enter the auditorium, they will be given a request form and an audience member may request any Beatles song he or she would like to hear. "This new show, "Yesterday and Today," was in rehearsal three years before it went on tour," Ashbrook said. "Billy says their band knows every Beatles song—they have them memorized. The band uses five keyboards, 19 guitars, four computers and zero prerecorded tracks. These guys are passionate about the music of the Beatles!" Ashbrook said.
The production is part of the Chillicothe Area Arts Council’s 2011-2012 season. Tickets are available at the door for $17 for adults and $7 for students. The box office opens at 2 p.m. Season members are seated at 2:30.
