Tut was born June 5, 1923 to James and Bertha (Stephenson) McAfee in Gallatin where he graduated from Gallatin High School in 1943, and attended College in Springfield for one year. Tut enlisted in the US Army, proudly serving his country in Central Europe as a sergeant for 3 years during World War II. After leaving the service, Tut was united in marriage to the love of his life, Marjorie Payne, on October 6, 1946, in Gallatin, Mo. The couple made their home in Gallatin where Tut began his career working at the Gallatin Motor Company. They later moved to Branson where he continued working at the Chevy Dealership Company as the service manager and was fleet service manager for the southwest region Chevrolet motor division GM Corp. Tut and Marge moved to Kansas City where he was employed at the General Motor Plant at the Fairfax district as regional manager for many years, but due to failing health he was forced to retire. In 1993 the couple moved to Lake Viking where they loved to fish and entertain their friends and family.

Tut was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Gallatin, the local VFW Post and was a dedicated Shriner and Mason. He enjoyed the fellowship with his fraternal brothers and was especially devoted to the Shriner’s Hospital; the heart and sole of the organization. Tut was a gourmet cook and loved to prepare for gatherings whether it was for church or large reunions. His specialty was grilling and Clam chowder; everyone looked forward to his wonderful meals. Tut loved his children and grandchildren and was always there to brighten their lives. His great wit, compassion for others and his ability to always look on the bright side made him the man he was. He was a loving husband and dad who will be greatly missed but not forgotten.
