Jack Tolen, 89, former resident of Jamesport, died on Friday, Sept. 2, 2011, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cameron, where he had resided since May 26, 2010. The body was cremated under the direction of Whitaker-Eads Funeral Home. Memorial services will be announced later.

Mr. Tolen was born on Sept. 26, 1921, at Carlow, the son of Roy and Madge French Tolen.

On Aug. 5, 1939, he was married to Virginia Lamp, who preceded him in death on Aug. 3, 2009.

He owned and operated a Chevrolet dealership and repair shop in Jamesport. Later he owned a TV sales and repair shop also in Jamesport.

He served as the Daviess County Coroner for several years and also worked for Roberson Funeral Home for many years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and a brother, Jim Tolen.
Survivors include a son, Al "K" Tolen of Panama City Beach, Fla; a daughter, Cathy Boswell of San Antonio, Texas; a sister, Jerry Winburn of Georgia; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
