Services for Harold Gooding will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at McWillimans Funeral Home in Gallatin. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday evening where friends may call after 11 a.m. at the Funeral Home. Burial will be at Cameron Memory Gardens in Cameron. Memorial contributions may be made to the Comfort Care Hospice.

Harold A. Gooding, 87, of Altamont, Mo., passed Sunday Sept. 4, 2011 at his home.
Harold was born Sept. 30, 1923, to Reuben E. and Nellie G. (Heldenbrand) Gooding in Winston, Mo. He attended school in Kidder and graduated from Winston High School in 1940.
Harold was united in marriage to Norma Prouty on Oct. 28, 1942 in Gallatin, Mo. The couple made their home on a farm near Altamont, where they started their family and began their life long career of farming.
Harold was drafted into the US Army, proudly serving his country during World War II. He served in the 186 Infantry Regiment where he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal as well as the Combat Infantryman’s Badge and the World War II Victory Medal. His unit was known as the "Jungleers" serving in the Pacific.
After returning home, Harold dedicated his time to his family, farming and raising livestock. He was employed at the Ford Plant in Claycomo, Mo., for several years and retired from Lake Viking in 1990, as a Supervisor.
Harold was a member of the First Christian Church in Cameron; he also was a member of the VFW Post 2172 in Gallatin.
Harold was an avid hunter and looked forward to the times he could go quail and coon hunting or fishing with his family and friends. Harold’s family was the pride and joy of his life; his values of responsibility, honesty and a strong work ethic will live on thru them. He was always making sure that they had the support to achieve their highest potential. Harold was a loving dad, grandpa, brother and friend who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him
Harold was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife of 49 years Norma, sisters; Eula McQueen and Roberta Ramsey, son-in-law Wayne Morrison, daughter-in-law Jill Gooding and great granddaughter Lucy Paige Morrison
Harold’s survivors include his Sons, Danny (Susan) Gooding of Raymore Mo., Harold (Betty) Gooding Jr. of Centralia, Mo., Phil (Rita) Gooding, Gardner, Kan., daughter, Darlene (LeRoy) Fisher of Altamont, Mo., sister, Donna (Dean) Karr of Cameron, Mo., 13 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren.
