Sheriff’s Office

Two Kansas City residents were arrested in a traffic stop on I-35 on Sept. 20. Johnny S. Wooten, 24, Kansas City, was stopped for driving in the left lane while not passing other vehicles. Trooper Jason Cross placed Wooten under arrest when he learned of an active warrant out of Clinton County.

Wooten refused to give consent to a search of his vehicle. At that time, Trooper M.A. Wilhoit deployed K-9 Charlie, and the dog indicated on the vehicle. The search revealed a brown bottle containing two ounces of PCP, five packs of More cigarettes and two digital scales containing a green residue and white powdery residue.

A passenger, later identified as Janiece L. Price, 19, Kansas City, gave a false identity to the troopers. Both were charged with possession of controlled substance with intent to distribute, class B felony. Bond for each was set at $80,000.
