Gallatin introduces four new teachers and a teacher’s aide to the community this school year.

Amy Meyer, 43, Lake Viking, will be a high school aide. Born in Omaha, Neb., and raised in Council Bluffs, Iowa, she graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School. She attended Iowa Western Community College. She last taught at Elkhorn, Neb., Omaha, Neb., and Council Bluffs, Iowa. Her husband Kevin begins as a teacher/coach at Gallatin. Her son Zedekiah, 21, is a college student seeking a degree in horticulture.

Kevin Meyer, 51, Lake Viking, will be the varsity football coach, strength-conditioning coach and seventh and eighth grade PE/health teacher. He was born and raised and graduated from high school in Fremont, Neb. He attended Midland College in Fremont and received a BA degree in education. He has taught at Newman Grove Schools, Beatrice High School, Doniphan Schools, Papillion-LaVista High School and Fremont High School. His wife Amy is a high school aid at Gallatin beginning this year. He has two children, Paige, 22, and Claire, 16, and a stepson, Zed.

Angel Michael, 38, Gallatin, will teach science at the junior high and high school. She was born and raised in Nixa and graduated from Nixa High School. She graduated from William Jewell College in Liberty with a BA degree in biology. She previously taught at North Daviess for three years. Her husband Doug is a teacher at Gallatin High School. They have four children, Andrew 14, Caleb, 13, Hayley, 11, and Maddison, 8.

Brent Burke, 33, Gilman City, will be the In School Suspension (ISS) teacher. He was born and raised in Gilman City and graduated from Gilman City High School in 1995. He received his AA degree from North Central Missouri College (NCMC) and his bachelor’s degree from Northwest Missouri State University. He taught at Gilman City for 11 years. His wife Tracy of Cameron teaches at Parkview Elementary. They have one child, Tenley, two months.

Kelly Walker, 29, Gallatin, will be the elementary and high school nurse and high school basketball cheerleading coach. She has lived in the Gallatin area her entire life and graduated from Gallatin R-5. She received her associate degree in nursing from NCMC. Her last previous nursing experience was at Cameron Regional Medical Center in the surgery, medical/surgery, obstetrics, nursery, rehab and day surgery departments, and at Harrison County Community Hospital in medical/surgery and the emergency room. Her husband Brian works at Terry Implement. Her children are Dillan Gray, 11 and Gaven Gray, 9, and her stepchildren are Chad Walker, 13, Braydon Walker, 12, and Shaylee Walker, 10.

Colby Gibson, 23, Gallatin, will teach junior high and high school social studies. He was born and raised in King City and graduated from high school there. He received his BS degree in education from the University of Missouri-Columbia. He student taught at Jefferson City High School.
