Teams were paired against each other on Aug. 3 based upon their season long points total to determine a season league champion team and later treated to pizza. The teams of Dillon Bird/Wade Dixon and Ed Weisenbach/Bill Steward were tied at the top after 11 weeks of play with 30 of a possible 44 points. Seven of 19 teams had enough points to contend for one of the four places that were to be awarded.

Bird and Dixon defeated Weisenbach and Steward to win all four points and claim first place. Frank Woodruff and Mike Grant split four points with Denton Clark and Gary Elbert to accumulate 29 points and tie for third with the team of Larry Heaps and Ronnie Moore, who won four points on the night to pass two other teams.

Only 15 points separated the first place team from the team totaling the fewest points at the end of the season.

On Aug. 10 an individual men’s league tournament was held. Players were divided into four flights based upon their season handicaps.

Mike Lang took first and Cody Bird second in the championship flight. Matt Adkison won third place money. Frank Woodruff captured A flight over Mark Lang. Zac Johnson finished third. Bobby Adkison took B flight over Dean Swalley and Ryan Lockridge, who finished second and third, respectively. Allen Rhoades won C flight with Mike Burrell second and Mike Grant third.

Following play, season long place awards were distributed, evening event winners were identified and the tournament awards were handed out. Tenderloin sandwiches and chips were provided.

Thirty-eight golfers participated in the 2011 men’s league. Some players picked their team members while others were paired up to make two-man teams. To participate in the 2012 men’s league one must be a member of Daviess County Country Club. Plays begins again in mid May and runs 13 weeks. Players need not be present every week to participate.
