She was born Dec. 27, 1912 in Pattonsburg, Mo., the daughter of Henry and Minerva (Hooper) Daniel.
On Feb. 8, 1933, she married John H. Rice. He preceded her in death on Aug. 23, 1989.
Brookie was a homemaker.
Survivors include three daughters, Wanda Smith, McFall, Mo., Carol Hayes, Independence, Mo. and Wyvetta Melton, Bethany, Mo.; sister, Velma Jones, King City, Mo.; daughter-in-law, Dianna Rice Muetzel, Cameron, Mo.; grandchildren, Alice Todd, Brenda Wilson, Shawn Becker, Chanin Miller, Misty Yurisich, Meckessa Mattox and Slade Rice; 15 great-grandchildren and seven great-great- grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by her parents; son, Ronald E. Rice; son-in-law, Jerry Hayes; sisters, Kathleen Price, Emma Richardson, Audrey Auldridge, Donnie Price and Wilma Stitt; brothers, James Daniel and Junior Daniel.
Funeral services were held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 6, at the Roberson Funeral Home, Pattonsburg, Mo. Burial in Oak Ridge Cemetery of Pattonsburg. The family received friends from 6 – 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
