Eddie, the son of Harold Edward and Evelyn Irene (Lewis) Lee was born Dec. 1, 1950, at the Lee family farm south west of Gallatin in a house with no plumbing and on a day when the outside temperature was minus eight degrees. Dr. Floyd Nelson was the attending physician.
Eddie attended the Gallatin schools and graduated from Gallatin High School. He then attended the technical school in Chillicothe and later worked at the Ford assembly plant in Claycomo for several years. In mid 1976, he enlisted in the US Marine Corp and served one term. He was an excellent shot and earned the Sharpshooter medal while in the Marines.
He later worked at a variety of jobs including working at Walmart as a maintenance man and at a pipeline construction company building the natural gas pipeline across mid Missouri. He moved with the pipeline construction company to Dayton, OH, for pipeline construction work there and was working for a natural gas pipeline company in the Morgantown area at the time of his death.
Eddie loved to coon hunt and all during the time that he lived in the Gallatin area, he had coon hounds and was very actively engaged in the coon hunting scene.
While Eddie did many diverse and interesting things during his life, without question his most notable accomplishment was caring for his father after his father had a stroke and was incapacitated. Eddie was on duty 24 hours a day, seven days a week, for almost 11 years. During most of that time he was by himself, a level of care and care giving that is seldom seen.
Eddie is preceded in death by his parents.
Eddie is survived by a sister, Judy Bryant of Cameron; brothers: Dan of Portland, Ore., JD of Gallatin, Bill of Covington, Ga., and Jerry of Allen, Kan. Online condolences may be left at www.mcwilliamsfuneralhomes.com.
