Gov. Jay Nixon appointed Carl A. Carder, of Gallatin, as the new Associate County Commissioner for Daviess County on Aug. 2. Carder will fill a vacancy created by the death of Commissioner Danny Heldenbrand.
Carder, a Democrat, retired in January 2011 after 27 years in maintenance and construction with the Missouri Department of Transportation. A veteran of 30 years in the U.S. Navy Seabees, both active duty and reserve, Carder was mobilized twice in support of American military operations in Iraq. He has served on the Gallatin R-t School Board, and has been active in numerous local civic, athletic and school organizations.
"Carl Carder is a strong, life-long member of this community, and I know his leadership experience in the military, at MoDOT, and in community organizations will enable him to serve the people of Daviess County well as their new associate commissioner," Gov. Nixon said.
